Problem - Modification times get changed by samfs. A tar into the
sam file system causes inconsistent modification times.
Workaround - None.
Problem - Build_cat has problems with 0 for the space available field.
dump_cat puts 0 in the space available field but build_cat does not like it.
Workaround - Download
build_cat
. This is a tar file with a fixed version of build_cat
to replace the version in /opt/LSCsamfs/sbin.
Problem - arcopy sometimes hangs when file system is full.
Workaround - Send kill -INT to the arcopy process.
Problem - Blocks apparently lost in SAM-FS. Problem reported on
a very small file system (100MB). Blocks were lost after an rm -r *.
Workaround - This problem has not been seen on large file systems.
This was a test environment with a very small disk cache.
Problem - Releaser is not started if the disk cache is full.
If the disk is full and the archiver is not archiving,
the releaser is not started.
Workaround - Change the disk threshold or run releaser manually.
Problem - Recycler and archiver need to interlock
Workaround - Do NOT run the
recycler and archiver at the same time.
Problem - Installation of Jumbo patch from Sun complains
about /etc/name_to_sysnum begin changed.

installation. To install the "Jumbo" patch:
- umount all samfs file systems
- send the process "sam_init" a kill -INT
- remove the line "samsys 180" from the /etc/name_to_sysnum file
- install the patch
- add the line "samsys 180" to the end of the /etc/name_to_sysnum
file
- reboot
Problem - Using archiver trace with "all" or "sig" causes the archiver to stop working.
Workaround - Do not use "all" or "sig" in the "trace =" command in the archiver.cmd file.
